Finding Answers in 3 Nephi 27

Friends, it’s been a while! I haven’t forgotten about reading the Book of Mormon. In fact, I’ve still been reading it. AND I have been reading it with my own personal questions in mind. And, I’ve been finding answers.

Just the other day I asked God to help me find answer to, how do I regain my full capacities (post injury)? I had the thought to turn to 3 Nephi 27, and I read that chapter. In that chapter, Jesus Christ is talking to his disciples in the Americas (Mormons believe that the BOM describes the “other sheep” in John 10:16). The disciples have been “united in mighty prayer and fasting” and are gathered together when Jesus appears to them. Jesus asks them what they want. They say they want to know what the church should be called, when he tells them it should be after him since it’s his church.

Here’s the bullet-point list of things I pulled out of that chapter that I can do. Keep in mind that with God all things are spiritual. Even the earthly, material things are spiritual to him. So, he can work through spiritual means to bring about physical and other changes. These are spiritual answers.

  • Pray and fast mightily.
  • Take upon me the name of Christ and endure to the end.
  • Do everything in the name of Christ.
  • God will fulfill all his words.
  • Do the works of Christ. Repent, be baptized, and be sanctified by the Holy Ghost.
  • Do the works of Christ.
  • Journal and keep a history.
  • Be even as he is.
  • Ask and knock.

Now all I need to do is apply what I learned! If you have a perplexing question, I recommend reading the Book of Mormon as though you’re going to find the answer in its pages, and see what happens!

By the way, have you followed Book of Mormon Book Club on Instagram? I post more inspiring thoughts there that you won’t want to miss.
